Paulina Aleksić (1999, Zaječar, Serbia) is a visual artist whose practice is primarily focused on photography. Working with both analog and digital photography, she develops an approach grounded in attentive observation and the selection of everyday scenes. Through framing and isolating elements of reality, her work explores how photography can shift the perception of the familiar and encourage a slower, more attentive way of looking.
Photography serves as a way of exploring and reshaping the world around her. Her practice moves between observing what already exists and constructing new relationships between existing elements. She is interested in what is easily overlooked, in forms of presence that do not necessarily place the human figure at the centre, and in the possibility of finding significance in ordinary, transient or peripheral aspects of everyday life. Analog photography plays an important role in this process through its materiality, slowness, limitations and openness to chance. Alongside photography, she explores short experimental film forms and the possibilities of connecting photography with sound and spatial interventions.
She graduated at the Faculty of Arts in Niš in 2021 and completed her MA at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade in 2022.
Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Serbia and internationally. Her exhibition Inner Sense, developed in collaboration with sound artist Tara Aleksić, was presented at Salon 77 of the Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts in Niš, Radul-begov Konak Gallery in Zaječar, Čedomir Krstić Gallery in Pirot, and the Hajduk Veljko Museum in Negotin. Her work has also been exhibited in the group exhibition Visual Artists of Niš at the Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts in Niš and Photo Masters at the Atrium Gallery of the Belgrade City Library, as well as at festivals and international exhibitions in Serbia, Poland and Montenegro.
